Monday Quick Hitters - The Cardinals, Favre, ASU, the Suns, the World Series...and more!

Plenty of sports thoughts to go around on a Monday...
  • I knew that Cardinals-Panthers game yesterday was a trap...emotional letdown from the big win last week for the Cardinals...plus a revenge game from last year's playoffs for Carolina.

  • For the life of me, I don't understand how the Cardinals don't try to get the ball to Larry Fitzgerald more often.

  • So much for the #1 ranked run defense in the NFL after Panthers' RBs DeAngelo Williams and Johnathan Stewart shredded the Cards for 250+ yards on the ground.

  • What a surprise! Anquan Boldin is likely to miss time once again...he's a great player who simply can't stay healthy for all 16 games.

  • What a surreal game at Lambeau Field yesterday...Brett Favre playing AGAINST the Packers.

  • I thought Green Bay's gameplan was to not let Favre beat them...whoops!

  • Two games: sacks by Green Bay against Minnesota = 0...sacks by Minnesota against Green Bay = 14.

  • Favre and Adrian Peterson are a great combo, but the reason the Vikings are much better than the Packers right now is the lines, both offensive and defense...they're just so much better at the point of attack (as evidenced by that stat above).

  • If you want to see some of the worst professional tackling of all-time, check out the highlights from yesterday's Titans-Jaguars game.

  • I knew St. Louis wouldn't go 0-16. Now Tampa Bay on the other hand...

  • Dennis Erickson...welcome to the hot seat. Cal tried to give ASU the game but the Sun Devils seemingly didn't want to take it.

  • USC...welcome to...the Holiday Bowl! I'm sure the folks in San Diego will be grateful to have you play there for once...unless the UofA can do something about that.

  • Oregon looked so, so good on Saturday night...but they still don't belong in the National Championship race for now after their opening night implosion in Boise.

  • College Gameday in Tucson on 11/21 for UofA vs. Oregon?...that would be a dream come true for me!

  • After the way he played in Stillwater the other night vs. Oklahoma St., Texas QB Colt McCoy would most certainly have my Heisman vote at this point.

  • Houston QB Case Keenum and the great Tim Tebow of Florida would also be invited to my Heisman ceremony.

  • How do you like my 41-14 Notre Dame prediction over Washington St. now? Final score: 40-14 Irish. Wish I could say the same about that Central Michigan over Boston College pick...

  • The Suns look like a sure-fire playoff time through the first three games of the season...let's see what happens now on this upcoming five game Eastern road trip. 2-3 would be a major success.

  • I'm willing to bet that Brad Lidge will not be a member of the Philadelphia Phillies next season...anyone want to take me up on that?

  • The Phils will win tonight with ace Cliff Lee on the mound, but I don't see how they can pull out Game 6. If there's a Game 7...I will predict that the Yanks lose.

  • Mariano Rivera's cut fastball might be the best pitch of all-time...no one still has any idea to hit it after 15 seasons.
NFL picks on Wednesday with college plays on Thursday this week...as I'm in Tucson on Friday for UofA's Homecoming...
